Professional Painter Ruth Burotte
Street ART Regatta

Ruth Burotte a Haitian-American artist from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, depicts characters and worlds that exist between a dystopian universe and the present day. Her visual lexicon can be traced to various motifs found within hip-hop culture, along with Japanese manga, graffiti, and comic book illustrations. Now Burotte is bringing her talent to a special project by the nonprofit Grace Arts Florida and she’s using a unique canvas-a Sail.

Burotte is one of the artists who is painting a special sail to be featured in the annual Street ART Regatta in Fort Lauderdale on February 9th, 2022.

“My goal is to have the viewer become aware of the place and time we currently reside in and to understand that many of the items and objects we interact with can become a part of our identity,” Burotte said.

Director of Grace Arts Center and StAR co-curator Clare Vickery is delighted to welcome Ruth Barotte as one of the artists who will use their artistic sails as part of South Florida’s most expressive art show on the water.
