Hall of Fame Coach Susan Summons Ignites Academic Scholars at Miami Dade College Awards Ceremony

MIAMI, FL — Susan Summons, a Hall of Fame WBL Pro Legend, and MDC Icon, delivered the keynote address at the 54th Annual Miami Dade College Kendall Academic Awards Ceremony on April 19th, 2023, at noon. The event, with the theme “Celebrating Academic Excellence and Re-energizing Future Community Talent,” was attended by honorees, students, families, faculty, and esteemed members from the community and college.
This year’s ceremony was particularly significant as it marked the first year that student-athletes were included in the awards ceremony as academic scholars. Summons, a well-known advocate for academic and athletic excellence, was the perfect fit to deliver this year’s keynote address.
During her speech, Summons encouraged the audience to dream big and push the boundaries of their own imaginations, much like Albert Einstein did.
“I am honored to have had the opportunity to address the students, faculty, and members of the community at this year’s Miami Dade College Kendall Academic Awards Ceremony, and to celebrate the achievements of the amazing honorees from various disciplines, from the faculty to the distinguished Presidential Leadership team,” said Summons.
