Project COAT in Fort Lauderdale evolved out of a high rise boom where nearby areas wanted to retain their ‘village’ character while eliminating blight especially just south of Sunrise Boulevard and west of US1 where there are a number of historical properties. A number of homeowners and nearby industrial warehouses tenants wanted to find innovative ways to sustain low to mid rise higher quality development and brand the area’s identity. The project has already transformed several city blocks and led to a wider community conversation about art, architecture, sustainable design and engineering innovation.

These events are made possible in part through support from the Community Foundation of Broward (Helen and Frank Stoykov Charitable Endowment Fund, Ruth H. Brown Fund for the Arts, Leonard & Sally Robbins Fund and Everett H. Metcalf, Jr. Unrestricted Fund).

Interested media should contact Clare Vickery of Grace Arts Center, FL.
